New 2023 Mazda CX-50 for Sale in Mississauga, ON

A highly-desirable new direction

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is a new addition to the Mazda family that looks to address something missing until now, which is genuine off-road capability. The all-new CX-50 has all the style and panache of existing Mazda crossovers for cruising around the streets of Mississauga and other urban areas in the Greater Toronto Area. However, the CX-50 is an adventure lifestyle vehicle with more off-road capability than Mazda has offered before.

Trim levels and styling

Designers haven’t abandoned the traditional Mazda style to create a lifestyle adventure, which is just as well as Mazdas are some of the most stylish and attractive models in their various segments. Instead, the company has enhanced the usual sleek, sporty, and futuristic look with squared-off black cladding over the wheels, bulging fenders, and a wing grille that extends its tips under the headlights. You’ll also see vertical air intakes below those headlights, and the bumpers appear to ride higher than usual, adorned with fake skid plates.

It’s common for entirely new models to only be available in a few trim levels to start with, and Mazda has stuck to that blueprint here in Canada as the all-new CX-50 is available in two high-spec trim levels. The entry-level model is the GS-L, and the higher-spec version is the GT, although the GT is available with a choice of engines.

Powertrains and performance

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 nails its colours firmly to the adventure mast with its drivetrain, as there’s no such thing as a two-wheel-drive CX-50. Both trim levels come with Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD as part of their standard specification, but two different powerplants are available. The AWD system is similar to other Mazdas, but this one is more advanced with a more advanced traction control system to better handle off-road challenges. There’s also a drive-mode toggle in the console for choosing between Normal, Sport, Towing, and Off-Road driving, which uses torque vectoring to shift torque from the rear axle at a stop to the front wheels as speed increases.

The standard powerplant for the all-new CX-50 is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 187 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque. The alternative – for the GT trim only – is a 2.5-litre twin-scroll turbo-four, providing the CX-50 with 256 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque using 93 octane gas, or 227 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. with 87 octane gas.

Features and equipment

It feels wrong to call the GS-L version of the 2023 Mazda CX-50 a base model because its standard specification is extremely impressive. Standard equipment includes AWD, 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, keyless entry, four USB ports, a 10.25-inch display infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go, a power liftgate, a power-sliding panoramic moonroof, and automatic dual-zone climate control.

The GT version of the CX-50 gets seriously luxurious with upscale features that include genuine leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, navigation, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, wireless phone charging, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Traffic Plus, and Travel Link services, a driver’s memory seat and more.
