Trim levels and models
If we leave aside the plug-in hybrid versions, and concentrate on the 48-Volt mild-hybrid versions of the new Mazda SUV, there are four different trim levels in this all-new lineup. The four trim levels start with the entry-level CX-70 GS-L, and then they go to the GT, GT-P, and range-topping Signature. The first thing you notice that sets the CX-70 apart from its three-row cousin in the Mazda SUV lineup is the blacked-out exterior styling theme. This includes 19-inch dark grey, high lustre metallic finish alloy wheels, black chrome "Inline 6" fender badging, and black exterior design elements such as side mirrors, wheel arch moldings, roof rails, window trims, and the rear spoiler.
Powertrains and Performance
Even though there are only four trim levels in the 2025 Mazda CX-70 lineup, shoppers still have a choice of powerplants. The standard unit under the hood of the GS-L and GT versions of the CX-70 is a 3.3-litre turbo-six that develops 280 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. NRCAN estimates the fuel economy for this unit to be 9.9 L/100 km in the city, 8.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.3 L/100 km combined. The alternative is another 3.3-litre turbo-six, but this one is a high-output version that puts out an impressive 340 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for this one comes in at 10.3 L/100 km in the city, 8.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.5 L/100 km combined. Both engines send their power to the wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel-drive is standard throughout the range. And if you are looking to tow with your new CX-70, the maximum towing capacity is a handy 5,000 pounds.
Interior Comfort and technology
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 offers a superb interior with generous cargo space and a host of comfort and technology features. The vehicle's practicality is illustrated by its remote-folding rear seats, a sub-trunk design, and a 1,500W outlet in the trunk for added convenience. The CX-70 boasts a 10.25- or 12.3-inch Mazda Connect centre infotainment display with touch functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, wireless phone charging, and Alexa integration. The CX-70 is also available with a 12.3-inch fully digital gauge display, a head-up Active Driving Display, a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system, and Mazda Online Navigation. The GT-P trim is seriously plush with Nappa leather seating available in various colours, ventilated front seats, heated front and rear seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and extended leather throughout the dashboard. The CX-70 also has a Driver Personalization System that uses facial recognition to customize user settings.
